So very blue

I am so obsessed with the color blue. Everything looks better in blue. People tease me about that, offering me things in blue or making comments about it, but I don't mind. As a matter of fact, they could tease me until they're blue in the face. :D

I saw some screws at the home improvement store, have no idea what they're designed specially for, but they were blue. I had to open my big fat mouth and say, "Now why can't all screws be blue?". That fetched some odd looks.

Oh well, I've had odd looks before. It's nothing to be blue about.

Paper Cube Boredom

What I do quite often when I am bored and have access to paper is making origami cubes. I make them out of all kinds of paper, even gum wrappers (now those tiny things are awesome!). If you want instructions on how to make them, post a comment and I will make up a tutorial. In case you're wondering, I added a heart to the one above to turn it into a Companion Cube like in the game Portal.

A good email about a dog

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of. He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out..

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks.

Curious I pinned a note to his collar: "I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap."

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 He"s trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?"

Packing Peanuts

I love playing with styrofoam packing peanuts. They come in interesting shapes, styles, colors, and materials. I've seen lots of pink ones that look like infinity symbols; stiffer white ones that curl back two directions and look like an S when on their side; and the ones that look like unflavored cheese puffs. I wonder if anyone has ever started a collection of the various peanuts available? If you know of any photos of a packing peanut collection, please let me know!

Winter Headwear

Some earmuffs look good. Some look too big, too fuzzy, too bright, too flat, or like they were assembled behind a dumpster somewhere.

Some winter hats look good. Some look too tight, have a ridiculous looking pom-pom (or other silly decor), dopey earflaps, or hang limply. Of course that all depends on the look of the person who is wearing it. I always look awful in hats that are too small, because my head is small to begin with. I look like a Dum-Dum lollipop. And I don't like pom-poms much, period.

Now, these headband forehead warmer things I see people jogging with- uh, what's the point? Is that supposed to keep your head warm without making you sweat? I've tried it- they don't seem to work that well. My head just gets cold while I sweat under the band. Yuk.

I propose that everyone start wearing fuzzy gray hats with turned up earflaps. Khello, khomrade. :P
Either that, or pointy hand-knitted ones with dangly earflaps, Jayne style. :D

Southern Wisdom

Words of wisdom from Southerners:

Can'tcha, won'tcha? Don'tcha wantcha? Mamma letchya, c'mon now, ya saidjya would.
